It is very important that this information be accurate as the death certificate is a legal document permanently filed with the State or District Health Department. Certified copies of the death certificate are issued by the Health Department's Division of Vital Records. The funeral director will assist in securing the number of copies you may need.
The type of cremation services available range from a direct cremation to a full service traditional funeral followed by cremation. The direct cremation includes the removal from a hospital to the crematory, securing necessary permits and authorization, actual cost of cremation and professional/administrative fees associated in making the arrangements for a total cost of $1145.00.* This price includes the removal from a local Maryland hospital only. A memorial service may be arranged after the direct cremation, with or without the remains present. The service may be held in the funeral home for an additional facilities charge of $400.00* or at a church selected by the family at no additional cost. It is also possible to have a traditional funeral with a rental casket followed by cremation. This complete service would include all services provided in the direct cremation with preparation, rental casket and use of facilities for visitation and services itemized in price for a total cost of $2,895.00.* Service charges in addition to the direct cremation are itemized so you only pay for services desired.
